About Cyprus 74
Cyprus 74 is an independent educational project. It exists to explain how the island came to be divided, for anyone who wants the history without the slogans.
Our approach
The Cyprus problem is told very differently on each side of the Green Line. This site tries to set out what happened in plain language, and where the two communities disagree, it gives both positions the same space and the same weight.
Where events are contested, we describe them in the terms used by international bodies such as the United Nations, and note the names each side uses.
